JT-Sahabat Museum Konperensi Asia Afrika (SMKAA) participated in the 68th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference on April 17, 18, and 30, 2023.

The highlight of this commemoration was organized by the Asia-Africa Conference Museum. SMKAA played a role in assisting with preparations and assignments through the organizing committee to ensure the success of the entire event.

The Afternoon Tea Reception was attended by representatives of the embassies of the Asian-African Conference countries, historical witnesses, community partners, and a number of media outlets on Monday (04/17/2023).

In addition to the reception, there were also speeches from Sri Lankan Ambassador Jayanath Colombage and historical witnesses such as Inen Rusnan and Abah Landung. The event was also attended by Wardiman Djojonegoro, Minister of Education and Culture during the New Order era, and Head of the West Java Provincial Government and Regional Autonomy Bureau Yulia Dewita.

The highlight of the 68th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference was the raising of 109 flags of the participating countries of the Asian-African Conference and the UN flag on Jalan Sukarno and the KAA Museum Hallway. Before the flag-raising ceremony, representatives of the embassies of the Asian-African Conference countries, namely Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Malaysia, India, and others, to take part in the Bandung Walk, a historical footstep similar to the one taken on April 18, 1955. The difference this time was that the guests did not enter the Merdeka Building directly from Savoy Homann, but instead walked approximately 100 meters from the Savoy Homann Hotel to Jalan Sukarno before entering the Merdeka Building Hall on Tuesday (04/18/2023).

The closing of this year's 68th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference was held on Sunday (04/30/2023) with the lowering of the flags of the 109 participating countries of the Asian-African Conference Summit and the UN flag.

This event was attended by the Bandung City Scout Council, which was also assigned as the flag-raising and lowering officers, and witnessed by the general public who wanted to know more about the Asian-African Conference and its significance for the Indonesian nation and the countries participating in the Conference.

On this occasion, SMKAA hopes that this commemoration can serve as a momentum to reignite the spirit of unity and cooperation among Asian and African nations.

SMKAA is also committed to continuing to hold activities that promote the values of friendship and cooperation embraced by the Asian-African Conference, so that this spirit can be passed on to future generations.

As a community dedicated to preserving the history and culture of Indonesia within the scope of the Asian-African Conference, SMKAA is committed to continuing to work with the Asian-African Conference Museum and the community to strengthen the role of museums as centers of educational and cultural activities, as well as to preserve Indonesia's cultural heritage. SMKAA also invites the community to visit the Asian-African Conference Museum and participate in efforts to preserve the history and culture of Indonesia.
